I have seen a problem in the messaging system of AirBnB which can create quite a bit of confusion for hosts with multiple units like me - or where guests book multiple stays.
Example one; A guest booked two stays in my same unit, one from 2-4 of the month and another one from the 15-18 of the month. Now when I look at my messages (or my team looks), only ONE of the dates appears in the message header, and in that case it was the last one. So we message with the guest, not aware that there is a booking on the 2nd-4th because it only shows the 15th-18th. The system should be smart enough to differentiate that and show the most RELEVANT booking in the message header or the booking info.
The same happens when a guest has two bookings in two units of mine, now it gets even more confusing.
And today I had to think an hour until I figured this out:
A guest had booked a stay in June, and confirmed it about a week ago. The guest has an unusual name so it kind of stuck in memory.
But then, today it seems that same guest sent another inquiry for the same date, but another unit of mine (he may not have seen it's mine too). But the inquiry looked just as if it's another pre-travel question on the first confirmed booking. But - the header of the message thread now turned from a green "CONFIRMED" to a red "INQUIRY". When I open the message thread, I can only see the details of the new inquiry, not the existing booking. Initially I thought that somehow the booking had vanished, because now there's no easy way to find it via the message thread but I have to go via the unit calendar.
This seems not very well thought out by the AirBnB team and there should be a way to identify if anyone has multiple bookings or inquiries going on with me at the same time. After all, AirBnB wants repeat business but makes it confusing to administer and communicate on those.
