[Poll] Do guests ever ask you for a discount?

Hi everyone 👋

Let's talk about discounts 💰, a topic our Hosts have been discussing actively in our Community. Some Hosts use discounts when they're new to the platform, some offer them to attract more bookings during weekdays, or for special events in their area, and for various other reasons.

Given this, I'm curious: how do you respond when a guest asks for a discount? Participate in this poll and share in the comments how you've managed such requests. Any advice for Host facing this for the first time?

I changed my monthly discount because somehow all my discounts were stacking from the lowest rate per month (when they allowed you to set monthly lowest rates), the monthly rate and the special offer discount. A monthly discount of 28-30% is reasonable if you are not factoring other discounts on top of that.

I got a couple of bookings way below what I would have accepted because of this oversight. I have someone who booked about 9 months in advance for $2000 for 1 month stay that is the lowest I’ve ever had for a monthly stay (it’s usually $2,300-2,450/month as it includes all utilities and amenities and depending on the guest, it can add up (some people keep their heat at 80F and ac at 62F at all times). There were some 1-3 day bookings for lower than my monthly daily rate too but those people have cancelled. So be careful of discounts and make sure you plug in potential dates to see what the final discount you are offering to guests so you don’t have the problem that I did.
