Purple/Blue Shampoos and Conditioners

Has anyone had stains in sheets and towels from the purple/blue shampoos and conditioners that have become very popular?  I feel like we have to make another rule to let guests know not to use those products with our linens.  We provide "spill" towels, but they are washcloth and hand towel size.  We've gone through numerous towels and sheets....

@Kristine-And-Sean0   Hosts who do their own cleaning eventually become experts in removing every kind of stain imaginable to preserve those towels and sheets. I'm not sure what the magic pre-treatment for this particular product is, but what works on hair dye stains is a 1:2 mix of hydrogen peroxide and dish soap.

House Rules are most effective when they aren't bogged down with the little things, and anyway, there are so many different skin and hair products that leave annoying stains that it's a lost cause trying to micromanage guests' use of them. (My pet peeve has long been cleaning up after people with long hair that embeds itself in everything, but unfortunately a BALD GUESTS ONLY rule wouldn't be viable).

@Kristine-And-Sean0 I have seen a few posts about this from other hosts. I have not noticed any staining  from shampoo but I have had guests dye their hair during stays-- one was bright blue and one what looked like auburn or brown. Towels totally ruined in both cases and were a loss. The tub and shower tiles are also usually affected. Cleaner with bleach and grout cleaner typically get these stains out pretty well. Maybe if this happens a lot invest in some navy blue towels.

Better question-- why do people need an impromptu dye job at an old schoolhouse in the middle of Maryland during their weekend away? The only thing I can think is running from the law....

@Laura2592  People do it all the time in hotels. Maybe it's just a cheeky way to avoid staining their own stuff. But then again, for some people I know whose work and home lives are too demanding to leave any leisure time, those weekend getaways are about the only times they feel they're allowed to do something purely for themselves. I guess a new hairdo fits that bill. But running from the law is a much better story...

The towels are not white, so I replaced them. I guess I’ll have to add dye towels to my spill towels and make up washcloths🙄.  It’s a waste of money here. The salt water and sun fades it out in days…
