I have a spare room and bath in my own home on Airbnb. My currents guests (M28 F24) are on day 12 of a 31 day stay, and I am not comfortable with them here. I have been told I can end their reservation early, though I can't find anything about this on Airbnb.com. Has anyone had to do this? Was it scary??
Thanks!
i gotta say i never even thought about the rights of tenancy after a month, but i am very grateful that ya'll have brought that up. i am going to make sure they are out before the clock runs out.
i hear you about having a thick skin, and i will confess to being more on the sensitive side. i think i have been able to temper that so far with guests, though i appreciate the reminder.
thank you!
UPDATE: I agree with @Anonymous and I think these guests are harmless enough inside the home, no matter what they are up to outside of it, so I took that bull by the horns, and asked what goes on with all the comings and goings. From that conversation, came the following note that I will send via Airbnb. I wanted to share because I don't think it is on the up and up and there is more to the story. If I do learn more, I will share in case anyone is interested.
Dear Guest:
To confirm our conversation yesterday, you let me know that the numerous (10+) and brief (2-15 minutes) trips in and out of the apartment each day, both with and without Alex, are to vape and use edibles away from the apartment. As I explained, this activity has caught the attention of a couple of neighbors. I don’t think they have said anything to the apartment manager, though the manager does live within the three buildings that share this parking lot.
Even though marijuana is now legal, please remember that this is a shared community and the neighbors need to feel comfortable. I am fortunate to live in a good community, and one of the better parts of the complex, and I want to keep in good standing with the management and my neighbors. With this in mind, if you can reduce how often you come and go for brief stints, both to the parking lot and driving in and out, that would be appreciated.
@Chey1 This is a tough one - in the absence of evidence that any rule or local law is being violated, your complaint kind of boils down to "you're entering and exiting too often." That kind of thing can surely be unnerving, but it's not like you'd say "you may only make 3 forays outside the house per day" or "you must spend a minimum of 10 minutes outside when you go out for errands."
Anyway, their explanation makes no sense. Why would you have to go outdoors to consume edibles?
@Anonymous Or does the complaint come down to the neighbors noticing this odd behavior and expressing concern (which happens to be true)? At this point I am laying the groundwork.
