handbook

Hi everyone, We are getting our place in San Diego ready for hosting. I heard its a good idea to have a welcome handbook with community info, home rules, etc.. Does anyone have a template that can be shared with us  via email so we can collect some ideas? Much appreciated!

Hi-- congrats on being a new host!

I don't have a template, but I update my handbook every year over our New Year's stay at our cottage. We always block it for us as we don't want any parties. Each year our handbook grows and grows. We do ours in hard copy (binder on the table) but many hosts do theirs electronically through Airbnb.

We include:

- Check in information (also in our emails)

-House quirks

-House rules

-A list of where to find common items people ask about

-Instructions on using the TV and remotes (with pictures)

-Instructions on using the fireplace and fire pit (with pictures)

-House history and a little about us

-Things to do in 3 cities surrounding the cottage/recommendations on places to eat and shop

-Recommendations on wineries, breweries, distilleries and hiking/skiing nearby

-Projects we are working on (some guests come back each year to see the new stuff we have done to improve the space. It also lets people know if something is less than optimal we are always looking to update and upgrade things.)

-Check out instructions.

Great advice from @Laura2592

As well as the above I include emergency contacts, public transportation, recommendations on local restaurants, bars and open spaces.

I would use the headings shared to write your guest book @Yair30

best of luck
