@Dawn664  I guess you realize now that you should never have agreed to allow extra guests on the promise to pay later. What you need to do if a guest says more are coming than they booked for is get them to amend the reservation to the correct number of guests so they will be charged accordingly. If they simply show up with more than they booked for, you either turn the extras away or amend the booking right then and there before allowing them access.

Also you shouldn't be communicating with guests by phone or text- keep communication on the Airbnb messaging system so you have documentation of what was said or arranged.

You can't avoid a bad review by not leaving a review for the guest. All reviews submitted are published, regardless of whether both parties leave one or not.

When you fail to leave reviews, you are doing other hosts a disservice, as you haven't warned the hosting community of a scamming guest.

This guest had no intention of paying for the extras, not by Paypal, cash or anything.

You won't be able to recover the money for the extra guests, so just move on and take it as a learning experience.

@Dawn664  A guest asking to pay off platform is a big red flag. Best practice is always to decline and report the guest to Airbnb.
