I've been researching alot of the smart home locks and these look like they're going to be awesome as we'll be managing our property from afar.  Some of the ones that I'm considering:

We tried 2 different smart keyless entry options and the from Amazon was the winner.Screen Shot 2024-02-08 at 16.32.02.png

Hi @Yassine121

I am currently testing the Schlage Encode deadbolt lock as part of the Smart Lock Integration which has not been released yet and it works great.  Unfortunately, I only know this lock currently works and not sure which other locks will work when the Smart Lock Integration is officially released but I can tell you, it is very cool.

@Yassine121,

We three different types of locks:

  1. Schlage Encode deadbolt lock: https://www.amazon.com/Schlage-Deadbolt-BE489WB-CAM-619/dp/B07HX9GSJM.  This is our preferred lock because its keypad is a part of the lock and doesn't require a separate wifi access point, the battery life is okay - six months (YMMV, depends upon battery quality and frequency of use), the app is pretty simple to use and integrates with our Ring doorbell.
  2. Wyze lock and doorbell video and chime:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJGK97VN/ref=dp_iou_view_item?ie=UTF8&th=1.  This is our second choice, and is the most economical option.  It works similarly to the August lock and Ring doorbell, a separate wifi access point is required.  The app is simple to use.  We didn't install the keypad at this location.
  3. August lock and keypad:  https://www.amazon.com/August-Home-Smart-Connect-Black/dp/B0BVDCGY9Y, https://www.amazon.com/August-AK-R1-Smart-Keypad/dp/B015SLMR1U.  This is our least favorite setup because the keypad and wifi access point are separated from the lock.  This means more batteries are required.  The access points frequently discount from the network, and the keypads get very warm.  For this reason we removed them from the entrance doors, and now have them only on secondary doors, e.g., door between garage and house and doors to the basement.

@Debra300 Regarding the Encode - if you use the deadlock from within the unit, can anyone still enter from outside if they have a pincode? Some of our guests complain that the door cannot be entirely locked

@Natalie1444 No - if someone inside the unit engages the deadlock (turns the thumb turn to fully locked position), no one can enter from outside even if they have a valid pincode. The keypad is disabled when the deadbolt is manually engaged from inside. This is a safety/security feature of the Schlage Encode, not a malfunction.

@Natalie1444, and @Yassine121, I will ask our current guests to test the scenario and let you know.
