Hello, Advice on which lock box is best would be greatly appreciated!!I've heard the smart lock box is ultimately flexible. I...
I offer a variety of vacation rentals, each thoughtfully decorated to complement its unique style and architecture. The log homes are designed in a traditional Adirondack style, reflecting their rustic charm. The Victorian home combines classic elegance with a touch of modern glam for a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere.
For client-owned properties, where homeowners use their spaces in addition to renting them out, the decor reflects their personal tastes while staying true to the home's architectural integrity. For instance, an off-grid cabin is styled with vintage camping-inspired decor, evoking a sense of adventure. A cozy, family-oriented log cabin has a warm and familiar aesthetic, while a modern home features sleek, minimalist furnishings for a clean and contemporary vibe.
I aim to strike a balance with decor, avoiding overly kitschy themes to ensure the homes appeal to a wide range of guests, creating spaces that are both distinctive and broadly inviting.
They're all so wonderful @Kim3309. Did you have professional photos taken for each property? They all look so inviting and I could picture myself in all of them.
Thank you for sharing the difference between your client facing properties and the ones that you offer. 😍
You're welcome, I'm happy to share! I use a professional photographer for the pictures. I can take good ones myself but I find a professional has better lighting, camera angles and editing skills. I also specifically request that interior pictures that have windows allow the view outside to be seen. This can be tricky to do yourself.
We are Pleasant Valley Maple Lodge. There are some leaf motifes throughout--the dining room and hall have some floating leaves.
That's so pretty @Francine319 🍃 Co-ordinating the property name to the decor is a wonderfully personal touch. Do your guests comment on the choice of decor?
Thank you so much for popping by and sharing with the Community. 😊
Thank you. Sometimes there are comments. Yes, on the interior spaces. Most often on our grounds, which are nature-made ; o )
We have a large space for Guests; each room has a unique theme. Once we chose a theme, this made decorating so easy as we could concentrate on specific colors, eras and key elements to include.
We have an 'Almost Amish', 'Very Victorian' and 'Steampunk Suite' bedrooms. The hall bathroom with slipper tub is French, 'Le Bain' decor. The laundry & kitchenette area is Beach themed. Our decor is authentic as much as possible and not faked/forced. Meaning; we have actual items like invention blueprints and old radios in the Steampunk room but not a modern cartoon printed comforter that says, 'Steampunk'.
While not necessary, the building/layering of a theme is a fun way to introduce Guests to an era or ambiance that they may not have experienced in person before. As a Host, you're likely going to paint a wall or two, hang some pictures, add a throw pillow and rug.. You can go safe (neutrals or minimalist style) or try something different. (Nothing wrong with safe, by the way..to each his own !) Start with just committing one room to a theme. See how you like it (or not). Ask a friend to critique; does it hit the mark, need more or different colors ?
We basically decided to go with what we would enjoy as we also live on the property. Guests comment on how much they like 'being' in the theme 🙂 They enjoy exploring the details of the room(s) and it's been a fun experience overall.
We researched the other local B & B's to see what their decor style was like before we started ours. We were simply wanting to offer a different experience and not be just another basic motel room or a repeat of nearby Guest rooms.
Hi Rebecca 🙂
Thank you for your kind comments !
We used to live near Amish communities. Now we aren't near any so guests from this area are intrigued by the Amish room which has some furniture, crafts and clothing we bought at Amish farm auctions years ago.
People enjoy the Steampunk Suite for it's decor and because it's the largest room we offer. We get asked, 'Where did you find this stuff?' a lot 🙂
