@Breanna Thanks for tagging me.
@Isbar0 This depend on where you are. Assuming you are in the US... This has been my strategy.
I NEVER pay retail for furniture.
I furnished all my listings from estate sales where they sell good quality furniture for fraction of a price. I try to practice recycling and upcyling items in my personal life and try to minimize my "new" purchases, but this holds true especially for furnishing rentals.
Shopping estate sales is also a lot cheaper than renting furniture and if something breaks, you won't care all that much.
For estate auctions I like auction ninja . You bid online and then go and pick up stuff. I managed to get very high end and good quality furniture for pennies on the dollar. I got boxes of fine china for a few dollars and when guests break dishes, I don't care, because the china set was not complete and I can always find a new set.
It's different for bedding and towels. Like @Inna22 said, I like Wayfair to buy sheets because you can actually find 100 % cotton without the price tag usually attached to it. but that's really the extent of stuff I buy new.
I hope this helps.
@Inna22 Did you try online estate sales? I got two brand name sleeper sofas (with brand new therepudic mattresses) that I think are aesthetically pleasing for $350 for both. The bidding process is kind of fun, you might like it 😁 Finding people to help you go get the couches in a rental truck, not so much, but I think it was worth it!
