Government ID before a Guest can book please
I’ve waited patiently, reduced my condo well below market at rediculous $75 a night when its value is $700K
Its so slow, I.lose money on this one and another listing I have. Last night I was excited to receive a Guest message only to find out they did not obey my rules to simply explain their request details. They immediately BLOCKED my dates the whole evening, didn’t respond back and didn’t have government ID nor any reviews. 2025 January registration in Airbnb
Guest bookings seem to be so slow. Airbnb was very helpful to clear my calendar of this booking. Sadly this Guest did not obey my rules to contact me - it’s stated on my profile
I’m hoping with sending this Airbnb can help Hosts and somehow prevent this. If a Guest is NEW on the system can adjustments be made so government ID Mandatory before they can tie up a Host booking and is there a way for them to engage in a platform where they need to know they MUST read Hosts rules
I hope this can be considered. I am very concerned about all this slow activity in bookings and how low the nightly prices are now.

Hello @Linda1161
I'm assuming that you are not on Instant Book? You have many listings under your profil which makes it difficult to check what a guest sees when they want to book with you? House rules etc
You can however toggle a switch under each listing that requires guests to provide full ID, emails, phones etc to book with you. Failure to do so means that you can ask Airbnb to cancel free of penalty. Imagine you have done this?
However, when we receive a request to book, this automatically blocks our calendar for 24 hours or until the guest responds to our message. If our guests doesn't get back to us or hasn't updated their profile, then we only have the choice to accept or decline this request to book within that tight time frame. A booking enquiry does not block our calendar however. Many hosts feel that it's unfair to have our calendar blocked this way but haven't heard of Airbnb changing their policy on this. I'm glad that CS unblocked your calendar though.

Good morning @Joelle43 I appreciate your prompt response. I dint use instant book anymore because I found it’s best to know the some details of the Guest with some communication. Right now we have Tenants who have not paid rent in their current rentals forced to leave and booking Airbnb but many more people than stated. I like to protect my condo building relationships
I own these properties. I certainly
appreciate you so much for your response and insight Maybe Airbnb can include one quite multiple choice question asking reason for stay ? This guest had a 15 month old child yet my condo noted not advisable. It’s super nice building good relationships with Guest / Host this step may welcome it Best regards
