How often do you replace pillows and sheets?

I’ve been an Airbnb host for about 9 months. I’m finding that the pillows break down and the sheets are limp! I’d like to know about how often other hosts are changing pillows/sheets. I realize it depends on occupancy , but what are your thoughts?

@Vicki625 Are you buying quality cotton sheets? We have no issues with our sheets which usually get stained and replaced before they are worn out.

I looked at your lovely listing @Vicki625 and just want to chime in with @Mike-And-Jane0 to say - get better sheets and pillows and they'll last longer.  Really good sheets get clean more easily and improve with age.  Pillows need pillow protectors but probably need to be refreshed every year - although you can make them last longer with washing or stripping (https://bobbyberk.com/why-you-should-be-stripping-your-bed-pillows/).  If you get Sferra, Brooklinen, or Frette sheets and down pillows, and put cushions on those hard kitchen chairs, I'll come stay because I want to sit on the porch and listen to the bobwhite quail 🙂

@Vicki625 , as everyone here has stated, purchase quality pillows, pillow protectors, sheets. My pillows last quite a long time. My sheets (they are white colored) last about 1 year.   I find I replace my flat sheets more than I do my fitted sheets.

We purchase quality bedding from hospitality brands and suppliers with at least 800 thread count.  Regardless, with that we get about 150 night out of them or 1 year.  It's important to maintain a quality feel at all times. Obviously, stains and rips happen so keep an eye on things.

@Vicki625  If you purchase quality sheets and pillows, they should last a good while.

I purchased pillows from a big box store in bulk, and the pillows are rotated between which ones are on the bed and two extra in the closet.  I buy down alternative filled pillows -- they can be washed and fluffed in the dryer as needed.

I purchase quality sheets sets in all cotton, at least 600 thread count.  They stay crisper if you do not drown them in fabric softener and go easy on the bleach.  Cotton does not snag as readily as microfiber and does not get that dryer grey appearance either.

My pillows last about 2-3 years.  I do use pillow protectors on them.

My sheet sets last about 2 years as well.  I rotate 2 sets and keep an "old" set which in the closet for emergency use.

My occupancy is about 250 nights a year.
