Just starting out with renting while we’re gone on trips

Has anyone done this while still living in your home. What do you do with your secure items, your clothes? Is this a bad idea while you’re still living at your house?

Yes there are quite a few hosts who do this. As long as you have a local co-host to manage things on the ground while you are away it can work out well. @Monica2552 

You need to lock any valuable/sentimental items away. Many hosts who do this lock one of their rooms to store valuables/sentimental items.

If you are leaving clothes in bedrooms then make sure the wardrobes etc are lockable and there is enough storage room for guests belongings. 

Do check with your local government to see if there are any STR restrictions in your location.
