Microwave

Microwave

We are preparing a flat for Airbnb. The kitchen has very little space. We have an oven, small washing machine and dishwasher. We are struggling to work out where we can fit a microwave. Is a microwave considered to be essential in an Airbnb?

@Lisa8107 it may be too late/expensive but you can buy a combined oven/microwave these days.

No.

I think a microwave is quite useful in a short-term rental, even if it’s not an absolute essential. Guests often want to quickly reheat food or takeaway without using the oven, so I’d definitely try to include one if you can find a way to fit it without making the kitchen feel cramped. If space is really tight, though, I’d prioritise the other appliances first.

Sure , there's a microwave in the kitchen

At first I did not consider it essential. I had a long stay guest who requested for microwave. So I provide microwave in my units now.

I do offer a Microwave, it is nice to have a clean place to warm up food  😄

A microwave for me in a kitchenette is essential. I haven't put a full kitchen in because I do not want the problems of family cooking, The flat is on the small size & the last thing I want are cooking smells lingering for the next guest. I provide a microwave, toaster and egg cooker. I'm really only interested in 2 days to a week bookings (I have done longer), This means I am able to keep up with cleaning and repairs, longer stayers tend to wear the facilities more. but that's just me.

I have a microwave in one of my apartments because a long-term guest requested one, so I bought it for them. Now that it’s there, I can see that it is actually used quite frequently. I wouldn’t say it is absolutely essential for an Airbnb, especially if space is limited, but it can definitely be a useful extra for guests.

I would say it is very important. One of the things that sets you apart is having some food prep option. Even motels are mostly using those today.

I would say yes.  when most people stay at an Airbnb, they usually go out for food.  However, many times they bring home leftovers to eat the next day for breakfast or lunch.  it takes a long time to heat up food in an oven unless someone plans for it. I think the most useful appliances are a fridge, microwave, and cooktop or hotplate.  They make cooking much easier, b/c cooking anything in an oven takes a while.  If someone wants to prepare a meal in the oven, they will most likely be looking for accommodations with a full kitchen.

We do. It’s above the stove.

Everything in one unit on one wall.Everything in one unit on one wall.

We don’t have a kitchen specifically for guests. We do have an area with a fridge, tea and coffee making and so on. Our guests are more than welcome to use our kitchen whenever they want.

That being said. I think a microwave would be a good idea.

most of our guests are travelling along the west coast of Sweden north or south bound, so they often arrive early evening.

we always leave food in the fridge or even cook them something because they are often very tired.

Full oven dishwasher washing machine air fryer and microwave is available.
