We are preparing a flat for Airbnb. The kitchen has very little space. We have an oven, small washing machine and dishwasher. We are struggling to work out where we can fit a microwave. Is a microwave considered to be essential in an Airbnb?
Hi Paula,
Thank you!
I knew if I wanted to rent out a room, that I needed to do it more like a studio apartment minus the stove. So when I saw that little organizer, (I wanna say from home depot but I got it in 2018) I knew that that was going to be everything that I needed.
Thanks again!
Holly
We don’t have a kitchen specifically for guests. We do have an area with a fridge, tea and coffee making and so on. Our guests are more than welcome to use our kitchen whenever they want.
That being said. I think a microwave would be a good idea.
most of our guests are travelling along the west coast of Sweden north or south bound, so they often arrive early evening.
we always leave food in the fridge or even cook them something because they are often very tired.
Full oven dishwasher washing machine air fryer and microwave is available.
Great equipment, @Graham547. Do you know which kitchen appliance is used most frequently by your guests?
Regards,
Hello @Lisa8107, thanks for sharing this great question with the community.
Many hosts have already shared their opinions and suggestions. When you have a moment, please take a look at their comments and keep us posted on whether you decide to offer a microwave or not.
Regards,
I would say you should at least have a compact microwave.
Hi,
Can you add a shelf on the wall near an electrical point and place the microwave there? Just thinking outside the box. It's difficult to suggest without seeing the layout of your space.
Yes, I think if you are renting an a flat or an apartment, guests would expect to see a microwave and perhaps these days is considered an essential item to have in the kitchen. Both short and long term guests might find it very useful to reheat their food if ordering a takeaway or buy something ready that needs to be reheated.
As someone else also suggested, there are now a wide range of microwave/oven available and affordable to buy.
Not sure if Airbnb consider it as an essential but there is certainly an expectation from guests to have it.
I only rent rooms to guests in my home and although they have no access to the kitchen, I have been asked several times if they can use the microwave to heat up milk or a drink for their children. So my answer has always been yes of course.
So you might have a young family that expect to see a microwave in the kitchen.
The very best of luck for your new flat.
Yes.
our oven has an air fryer option as well.
We have a small microwave in the kitchen in our tiny home. Guests use it pretty frequently.
I think essential. Most homes have one and people are used to using one as part of their kitchen.
One other appliance that is useful is a small air fryer. Great for reheating food or cooking chips etc.
We do have a microwave in our listing. It's built into the upper cabinetry, as we have a standard size kitchen. I do think it's a nice to have amenity if not a microwave, a toaster oven or some way for guest to quickly heat up food.
@Lisa8107
I have seen instances where a microwave was more useful than a stove or oven. Today's microwaves could be a 5-in-1 with airfryer and more. I believe it is important to have.
Hello @Hubert--J0, thank you for sharing this. I hadn’t heard about a 5-in-1 microwave with an air fryer before—very interesting!
Do you offer one of these in your property?
Regards,
Hi @Paula
Yes, we do have a one of these below in our apartments
