Hi everyone,
As an Airbnb host, one of the most important aspects to focus on is creating a welcoming, clean environment for guests. Here are a few simple cleaning tips to ensure your guests have a fantastic experience:
1. Tackle the High-Traffic Areas – Pay special attention to spots that guests are most likely to touch, like light switches, remote controls, and door handles.
2. Use Fresh Scents – A light, fresh scent can make your space feel more inviting. Consider using eco-friendly air fresheners or essential oils.
3. Focus on the Bathrooms – Ensure the bathroom is spotless with fresh towels and properly sanitized surfaces. A clean bathroom can be a game changer.
4. Create a “Homey” Feel – Small touches like fluffy pillows or a cozy throw blanket can make your space feel like a true retreat for your guests.
By keeping your space clean and organized, you’ll build a reputation for being a thoughtful and attentive host.
Have any other cleaning tips you’d recommend? I’d love to hear them!
I love the #1, #3 and #4 suggestions. #2 I would strongly disagree with. In order to please as many people as possible, and to avoid making many people ill, I would recommend avoiding any and all scented products. Air fresheners and scented oils are nonessential, and to many people they are offensive and even a health hazard. Just my 2 cents - I would have to avoid being in a space with them, personally, and would have asthma and allergy medication handy to combat "indoor air pollution". Oils are virtually impossible to remove from surfaces they have soaked into, air "fresheners" are easier to remove and air out the space, with open windows, over time. Best to have one's default as no scents at all, please, or have a warning on the listing to alert potential guests, imho.
As you are not a host what made you decide to join our community of hosts and guests to post your tips @Jemmelia0
I agree with @Kitty-and-Creek0 I disagree with your tip that we should use air fresheners .
Hi @Helen3, I totally understand where you're coming from! Scent preferences can be very personal, and some quests might prefer a neutral environment. I've found that light, natural scents like an open window or a mild essential oil can enhance the experience for some, but i agree that it's always best to be mindful of sensitivities. Great question! while i am not a host myself yet, I've worked with short-term rental properties. I decided to join the community so i can learn from others and also share tips as well. I appreciate different perspectives, and i believe this community is a great place to share ideas. We may not agree always, but discussions are much more productive when they stay respectful. I'm here to share and learn just like everyone else!
Hi @Jemmelia0
This is very much a community for hosts and guests to discuss queries around Airbnb and how it works.
if you want to be a host there are useful community guides you can look at on this community centre that talks you through the process .
