Hi @Sam5111

If your apartment is located on the 2nd floor, make sure to highlight this in your listing title and description so guests know what to expect. Be clear about how guests will access it:

  • Does it have a private entrance, such as a separate stairway or door?
  • Or do guests need to pass through the main house before reaching the 2nd floor?

You can phrase it in a positive way, for example:

  • “Cozy 2nd-Floor Apartment with Private Entrance”
  • “Bright 2nd-Floor Unit in Family Home (Stair Access)”

It also helps to mention in your description:

  • Stair details (straight, spiral, indoor/outdoor, wide/narrow).
  • Whether it’s suitable for guests with mobility concerns.
  • Any views from the 2nd floor (garden, city skyline, airport view).
  • How much privacy guests will have (completely separate space vs. shared entry).
  • If you live downstairs, note that you’re available for help but respect guest privacy.

Be sure to include photos of the private entrance or stairs, and add a short description to each photo so everything is clear for your guests.

You can write it it in the description @Sam5111

You could also consider adding photos that illustrate this.

If stairs are the only way to get there, go to Guest Safety in the Listings tab. Under Property Info, tick Guest must climb stairs

Just a note on international guests: what you think is the 2nd floor, may not be to them! 😃

I'm used to "1st floor" being one storey up, just above the Ground Floor. In some parts of the world the ground floor is called the 1st floor. So a 2nd floor apartment for me is a 3rd floor apartment in the US!

I try to describe 1st floor as "one floor up from the ground". Sounds strange, but hopefully it helps some international guests.
