quilt vs duvet - help!

I’m looking for opinions on quilts vs. duvets for vacation rentals. I manage 47 homes, some with up to 14 bedrooms. Currently, bedding choices are dictated by homeowners, but I’m working on establishing a new standard.

I personally like the idea of white or light beige duvets, while others on our team prefer quilts with backups on hand. I’d love to hear what has worked best for you—durability, ease of cleaning, etc. I’m about to place a test order for one home but feel torn on what to choose. I’ve seen Ikea recommended, but I’ve also read that their duvets run short and don’t fully cover the bed edges. Any tried-and-true recommendations? Thanks in advance!

I don't see how it could be practical to wash and dry quilts between stays, unless all of your properties take only long-term bookings (even then it would be quite a job).

Duvet covers are far easier to wash & dry at every changeover.

If you worry about size you can perhaps consider buying one size larger.

Laundry is a big part of the job, so I agree with your efforts to get it right!

@⁨BASK-Away-⁩0 I second what @Shelley159 wrote. My place only has one bed, but I find using a duvet with a white zippered cover so much more efficient than having a non-covered duvet/quilt/blanket.

@⁨BASK-Away-⁩0   I use duvets and duvet covers.  I started with quilts but washing them between guests was difficult and I had to have three sets for each bed.  

I have since gone to IKEA duvets and covers as they wash very well and dry quickly.  They are also fairly indestructible, and I have some that are on their third year of use.  I do not find the IKEA duvet covers too short, but I use king size duvets on my queen beds.  (I do not know of any brand of king duvet cover that does not look skimpy on a king bed -- I have tried quite a few at home).

Ask your housekeepers as they are the ones that have to deal with the task of remaking beds.  They may prefer whipping off the "used" quilt and replacing it with the washed one.  Just be aware that there are guests (like me) who distrust quilts as they may not be washed between guests.  I have been known to ask a hotel to send up fresh linens if they have "bare" quilts.
