Cell Phone & 3G/4G Options for Visitors

Hi all, 

I'm travelling from Ireland and I'm wondering if anyone in LA or California can enlighten me about what my options are for buying a pre-paid SIM to make local calls and get internet access on my smart phone. 

Any advice on the best/easiest options would be really helpful? Preferably unlimited data/call plans that can be bought for 30 days at a time.

I also needed the same and found B4i.Travel had T-mobile SIMs for US delivered to my Airbnb host in advance of my arrival.  Worked out really well.  Looks like they service other countries as well.  Great idea.

It is a easy thing to get in LA , a prepaid phone card or cheap to get a service for a month as 40 dollars value , in any store like Metro PCS ,Virgin Mobile  ,etc or any big Retail store like wallmart , Best buy , Target . Also if you are staying in a place that have Wi-fi You can do all your phone calls using the Wifi.
