Hello bhumika

Well I've been homeless for about 18 months now and was working with links2home for about 11.months until a domestic violence incident left me without anything and fearful of our lives.

Since then we have been literally all over the place

Even on a train to sydney and back to have a dry place to sleep

I'm 26 and heavily pregnant.and have my four yr old son with me and my unborn babies dad. He has lost his job Nd since his mother has become terminally ill has been taking a depressed toll which is getting hard.

I'm hoping since discovering airbnb.org someone would be able to help or point me in the right direction to seek help. I get $1200 a fortnight and have been approved to be able to afford $500-$550 a week rent wise.

My partner is only on a job seeker payment but can contribute $300 a fortnight also.

We just are hoping for somewhere stable where we don't have to wake up the next wondering how or where we are going to sleep and rest.

Hello @Mandy581

I am sorry to hear of your situation.

I am not sure of rental prices where you live but you're unlikely to be able to get a two bedroom Airbnb for your budget.

airbnb.org is for people who have lost their homes due to fires, flood, conflict etc

in the UK in your situation you would present as homeless to your local government where you are based and if you have children they would normally help with temporary accommodation

do you not have something similar in Australia?

@Mandy581. Unfortunately I dont have anything suitable that is available but are you on the wait list for government housing? If not sure, check out https://www.nrh.org.au/what-we-do/community-and-social-housing/ Link2Home is the correct agency when homeless so I'd keep trying them.

There are regional areas that have rental accommodation in your price range its just that many private landlords prefer at least one person to have a job so with a housing shortage they can pick and choose. So I know its hard but if your partner can get some mental health help he is probably in the best position to help you all to get a longer term rental.

In the meantime we have a Federal election on Saturday. Have you tried approaching your local member's office and outlining your situation-its a good time to ask them for help.
