Hi everyone,
We haven’t had a game for a while, and I thought this one would be apt: in these times, we’re not travelling so much or so far, but what better opportunity to reminisce on our past adventures and have a bit of fun travelling virtually?
The name of the game here is to guess ‘where in the world’ the photo shows. It’s a cropped photo of a famous location… can you guess?
Whoever guesses correctly can then challenge us with a picture of their own to guess.
I’ll kick things off - I hope you enjoy 🙂
To be honest I can't tell you if that was me or not Em! It was one of hundreds taken by Jacques, the L'Austral expedition leader. It's a stock Ponant photo.
All 57 of us got to do that and we were all dressed in similar gear....and when you are dressed like that, you can't easily identify who is who!
When all the photos were processed and put up on the board, the consensus at the time was, that it was me!
So, although I have seen it show up on a travel site on a couple of occasions, I reckon I own it!
Cheers.........Rob
@Robin4 this pic of the penguin is amazing! Sounds perfectly reasonable, I would lay claim to it if I were you 🐧😎
This is a good one Michelle, we are all going to have to do a bit of research .
The lines almost suggest that it is a cable car going over a stretch of water, but you have me stumped at this stage!
Or maybe its the Golden Gate Bridge cables, Oakland Bay!
1.15am here, I am giving it away for the night! Brain might work a bit better in the morning!!!
Cheers........Rob
@Robin4 Do you know the location of the cable car ? It's not the places you guessed before.
Oh Michelle, there is not a lot to go by but, it does look more than a bit like the Table Mountain Cableway in Cape Town in South Africa.......but, that's only a guess!

Michelle, More than half a century ago, when I was 22, I shouted myself a trip to South Africa!
I was on the 'Blue Train' going from Cape Town to J'Burg which in those days was a three night trip, if you did the diamond mine tour at Kimberley, and I ambled into the Club car and sat myself at the bar. I ordered a beer and the guy sitting on the stool next to me said...."Rob, god bugger me dead!!" .....I turned around and it was a good mate of mine from home in Adelaide. I had no idea he was in South Africa and he had no idea I was......it's a bloody small world!
Cheers........Rob
@Robin4 Well, that was an excellent guess. It is, indeed the Table Mountain Cableway !! I was born in South Africa, lived for a number of years in the UK and have been in the US for about 25 years. South Africa can be a small place 😉
That cableway has been going for almost 100 years but the cars were entirely different when I was there. The cars in those days were a rectangular box that held about 20 people with window openings with no glass. How nobody ever fell out is beyond me.
I have not personally seen the cars that you showed, but there is a Google image of one that looks pretty much the same and that is what I guessed on!
Where were you born Michelle?
Cheers.........Rob
@Robin4 I was born in Johannesburg. I also lived in Cape Town for a long time. The cars really have changed a lot over time.
Thanks for putting that one up Michelle that was a really good effort.
I am intrigued to see what others can show us!
Cheers.......Rob
@Michelle53 @Ann72 @Emilia42 @Yadira22 @Katie
Well, a couple of days have gone by and I just love anything concerned with travel, I don't want this tread to fizzle out so.......Where is Rob?
It might not look it but, it is famous!
Cheers........Rob
