Our place is 6400 sq ft and we may wish to offer the entire home for STR or sometimes about 1/2 of it while we are in the other half. Is this possible?

you sure can do this! 🙂 
just make 2 listings (you can duplicate the original - but be warned not everything copies over, double check all the tricky parts like IB, cancellation policy, etc), and then link the calendars so they won't be double booked.
