Customize check in time per date

I just talked to customer service and they confirm it's not possible to customize check in time per date.

 

Changing the check in time settings will impact the whole calendar, I am very surprised that this feature is not available since it is a very basic one.

 

Anyone has visibility on when this feature could be deployed?

I would love for this feature to be added soon! More and more guests are looking for flexible check-in/out time. A lot of them I have to turn down just because it would impact the whole calendar.

 

Please Airbnb add this feature soon! 😃

I don't see why this is an issue? This really should be a built in feature. I need it desperately as I don't want to block off the whole date for additional cleaning as now that we opening our listing to pets sometimes it takes slightly longer to clean but to block off a whole night is ridiculous when some guest don't mind checking in a little later, as long as they have a place to stay the rest of the night. Every night blocked is additional money lost so it is also in AirBNB's interest to add this feature.

Agree it would be nice to do this, but the problem for Airbnb would be how to properly show the listing in search results, especially for Instant Book and handle the constantly changing check-in/check-out times.

 

For example - Host Uses Instant Book and accepts same day bookings

Mary was searching for a property that accepts pets for 5/23-5/25

Mary sees your property allows pets and the checkout time you set is 11am on 5/25 and she books

 

At the same time John is searching for a listing (doesn't have pets)

Sees your listing and books it for check-in on 5/25 (same day as Mary is checking out)

 

There is no time for the Host to adjust the booking Checkout/Check-in Times. Mary has already booked and so has John as Host is using Instant Book. 

 

This would also be a huge headache for a Host to keep track of (especially for multiple listings) and also create issues for those Hosts with smart locks integrated with Airbnb. The system takes your check-in/checkout times data and uses that when sending the codes to guests. This would also affect how the short codes work in scheduled messages as that data is mined from the listing info. You could potentially have the wrong information being sent to guests as you are constantly changing the check-in/check-out times.

 

The only way around this currently is to use Advance Notice of 2days and turn slider on to be notified if less than 2day notice with request to book instead of instant book. The other option is to have Prep days before/after, which would not allow same day bookings (which you were trying to avoid).

 

I don't understand why it would be such an issue. When the host has already agreed to a late checkout, the cleaning is booked for later in the day. As a Host, I'd like to reopen the place for booking that night, however, with a later check-in time. I customise that at the time I book the cleaner for the previous guest, not the new bookings.

Using Instant Book, the key is that the next guest is shown their check-in time before they press the Book button. So they're aware, and can choose not to book if the check-in time is unsuitable.

Integrated smart locks work very well in this scenario; when the check-in/out times are changed, the locks adjust automatically.
