I would like to donate a few nights to a local charity and I heard there is a way to give someone a certificate so they could book the donation through Airbnb and then be subject to the rules even though they pay nothing.  Anyone have insight on how to accomplish this?

You'd have to create your own voucher and have them book directly. 

There isn't a way you can donate a free stay to be booked through Airbnb.

Somebody has to pay for the reservation.

There is no such thing as a  "free reservation"

A Giftcard can be used as a present and can be used by a guest to pay for a reservation.

But this is not your goal.

Alternativily you can offer the nights for a minimum price (I think it is $10,-) and even refund the money afterwards.

Guests maybe still pay some taxes or Service fee.
