Elevate Property Listing Categories - help needed

CATEGORY CORRECTION REQUEST — 18+ MONTHS AND WAITING

Hi there,

We're proud Airbnb Superhosts of 10+ years, absolutely love Airbnb and what it stands for — it’s been an incredible community to be part of, we just need help to resolve and update the categories.  We’d be so grateful if any Airbnb team member, Community Manager, or host who’s managed to successfully reach the “Elevate” or “Category” team could please point us in the right direction or share a working contact path to resolve?

ELEVATE CATEGORIES
We’re long-time Airbnb Superhosts with 2 properties:

Beach Holiday Home – Point Lonsdale, Victoria
City Home – Melbourne (St Kilda area)

For over 18+ months, we’ve been trying to get our listing categories corrected and updated on Airbnb — something that should be simple, but has turned into a dead end. We’ve:

  1. Submitted multiple formal requests through Airbnb Elevate to update categories - that our house meet certain criteria (eg. beach which is missing)
  2. Submitted multiple requests with AirBnb Support and Spoken to Airbnb Support who have been helpful to point, and also escalated to Senior Supervisors, they share frustration in that they do not have access to Elevate system or unable to help update the categories or able to help Hosts here.
  3. Been advised “it’s been escalated” to the Airbnb Elevate team
  4. Followed up dozens of times — only to receive conflicting information each time, some say the Elevate team is internal, others claim it’s a 3rd-party managed function. Not sure.

As said, we're big fans of AirBnb, but keep going round and round and hopefully theres an easy way for Airbnb to help.  Appreciate any help or escalation possible 🙏

Airbnb removed categories a few months ago @Julia-And-Marcus0

As @Helen3 mentioned, Airbnb removed categories in April 2025 (they didn't notify Hosts). Guests can no longer search by categories. Guests loved categories, but as you discovered, they were a real headache for many Hosts.

That said, categories are still shown in the Listing Editor under Property Type. My guess is Airbnb may use the categories data to add guest search filters down the road...but that is a guess.

For now, it might be a waste of energy to continue pursuing categories for your listing. Down the road if they start adding filters to guest search it might become important to pursue.
