Getting Started

Getting Started

First step is to pick a market, then find an agent to help you find a house to purchase (assuming you don’t already have one). Do your economic due diligence . There are lots of calculators out there. You could start with Bigger Pockets. Then, find a cleaner and handyman. After that, set up your PMS. I like Hospitable. You can pay them to do the setup if you find it o overwhelming, which is what I did.

Thanks for the great roadmap! I really appreciate you breaking down the exact steps, especially the recommendation for Bigger Pockets for the numbers and Hospitable for the PMS. Getting it all set up can definitely feel overwhelming, so knowing you can pay them to handle the initial setup is a huge relief.
Quick question on the operations side—how did you go about finding and vetting a reliable cleaner and handyman in your market? Also, what percentage of the listing price (or flat rate structure) do you typically budget for their services? Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Hi @Kwanza0,

Thank you for sharing those tips! Was there anything you wish you had done earlier in the process of setting up your listing, in retrospect? Or are these the first steps in your opinion and then the rest will depend for everyone?

Have a lovely day 🙂

Emili
