Guidebooks

Guidebooks

I have 5 guidebooks for my listing, but only one shows up when I'm looking at my listing as a guest.

1) is it possible to have all 5 show up in this scenario?

2) if not, how is one selected as the "default"?

Also, once a guest books, I assume then they are able to see all 5 guidebooks - is that correct?

Thanks!

Hi John - great question!

At the moment, Airbnb only displays one guidebook publicly on your listing page - that’s considered the default guidebook. Guests can see the others after they’ve booked, when they access your “Guidebooks” link through the trip details or messages.

The guidebook that shows up first is usually the one that’s linked directly to your listing, not the ones you’ve just created separately.

To check which one is linked:
1️⃣ Go to Menu → Guidebooks
2️⃣ Open the guidebook you want to show publicly
3️⃣ Click “Link to a listing” and select your listing

That one will appear to guests before they book; the rest will be visible once they’ve made a reservation.

Hope that helps clear things up! 😊

Thanks @Akshatha0 ! That's really helpfuil.

I can only make this more complicated by the fact that I have two listings and 10 guidebooks. You can tell I absolutely love the guidebooks feature!

I associate 5 with one listing and 5 with the other.

Given this scenario, how do I designate which guidebook is my "default" for each listing?

Thanks again!

John

Hi John,

I love that you’re making full use of the guidebooks feature! 😊

When you have multiple listings, each one can have just one “primary” guidebook linked to it that appears publicly.

Here’s how to set or change the default for each listing:
1️⃣ Go to Menu → Guidebooks
2️⃣ Open the guidebook you want as the main one for a particular listing
3️⃣ Click “Link to a listing” (or “Manage listings” if it’s already linked)
4️⃣ Select the listing you want it to belong to and save

Airbnb will then treat that guidebook as the default for that listing. Guests will still see your other guidebooks for that property once they’ve booked, but only the one linked directly shows publicly.

Sounds like your guests are getting great local tips - I’m sure they appreciate all that effort! 🙌

Thanks.

I don't see this navigation:

1️⃣ Go to Menu → Guidebooks

Thank you!

One thing to note is you can share all your guidebooks by using the "Share Recommendations" feature in messaging. Some Hosts I work with have multiple guidebooks and send those manually in a message after booking, or a day or 2 before guest arrival. This allows you to attach all your Guidebooks in one message:

Scheduled messages only have a shortcut that links to the primary Guidebook and it is a URL string. Using the share recommendations feature, it will show the cover of your Guidebooks and the Title. Many Hosts create a custom cover or use a favorite photo of the listing or area as their cover for the Guidebooks. If it is a Dining Guidebook, they show their favorite dish at a local restaurant. If an activities Guidebook, they will include a popular destination or activity as the cover.

Joan,

Thanks for sharing! That's an awesome tip!

Setting that up now.

Thank you!

Hi @John-and-Nancy2!

I'm so happy that Joan's screenshots helped to clarify your questions about how to share guides! Have you already set them up? Let us know how it went!😃

Joan's screenshots helped us to learn about a new way to share guides. The actual question about which guide becomes the default and how to set it that way was not really answered. The answer that was provided included invalid navigation. What I have seen is that your "default" guidebook is the earliest/first one developed. I was not able to find a way to associate multiple guidebooks with a listing AND control which one is the default, so I just edited the "first" one and got what I needed that way.
