Hello! Retiring

Hello! Retiring

Hi everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself to the community! My name is Shauna, and I currently live in central Utah.  I’m a high school business and computer teacher, and I'll be officially retiring in June 2027 and relocating to Mesquite, NV full-time. I actually already own a property in Mesquite that I hope to turn into a short-term rental down the road, and I want to use this upcoming transition to dive headfirst into learning the industry.

Since I haven't launched my own listing yet, I thought it would be a good idea to look into the official Airbnb Co-Host Network option in order  to get some hands-on practice and experience. However, I hit a bit of a road block:  the official network requires me to already have an active listing and a year of solid hosting or co-hosting history (which I do not).

Because of that rule, I’m looking for a more creative, community-driven pathway to break into the industry. I would love to connect with experienced hosts in Mesquite or southern Utah who might need an extra hand or would be open to mentoring me. By adding me as a co-host on your existing listing, you'd be helping me build the official experience Airbnb requires, and in return, you get a highly motivated partner.  I would also be open to working with owners in a remote capacity with listings outside of the Southern Utah/Nevada area.

Thanks to my teaching background, I’m great with organization, communication, and hands-on problem-solving. On the tech side, I'm fully proficient with spreadsheets, calendars, Canva, Google Suite, and Microsoft Suite, so I can easily keep your scheduling, tracking, and guest communications in perfect order. While I'm still based in central Utah for the school year, my frequent trips to Mesquite mean I can offer regular support, and I will be fully available on the ground in Mesquite come June 2027.

If you’re looking to lighten your workload, or if you'd just be open to sharing some advice, please reach out! I'd love to see how I can be an asset to your business while I learn the ropes.

Thanks so much for reading, and I look forward to connecting with you!

P.S.  If this is not the correct place to be posting these details/questions, would someone mind pointing me in the right direction?  Thanks again.

Shauna

For some reason my Subject line cut off 😞  It should say:
