We are thinking about Air BNBing out our home in San Francisco when we're travelling, which is often. 

What do people do about their personal belongings (clothes/toiletries/etc) who do the same?

Create and owners closet with a lock to store your things while you travel.

Yes agreed. Gave a closet with a lock that is off-limits to guests. For one of my properties that didn't have a closet available, I bought a tall metal storage and kept that in the garage.

@Ashley1627 We have a 3 bed, 1.5 bath 2nd home. We only advertise 2 bed/1 bath and keep our bedroom/half bath locked. You can also lock and make off limits areas like garages and sheds. Only advertise the areas guests have access to.
