EDIT:
I can actually see 2 years ahead so I can still use the 9999 pounds workaround, sorry about that.

Hello.
Around special events/festivals people are practically hunting down the bookings very aggressively.
Last year someone has managed to beat us to the punch and booked our property the minute it was available on his required date.
The problem: you can't block a date beyond the availability window and you need to be faster than the guests.
Ideally I'd be able to block any date outside the availability window.
Last year there was a loophole, we couldn't block the dates but we were able to set the price 2 years ahead, so I simply went ahead and put 9999 pounds per night. But now the calendar is only showing the available window.
Is there a way around that, what do other people do? This is nuts, I had to spend hours with airbnb support to get them to remove the penalty for canceling on a guest minutes after he made the booking.
Thanks.

To be able to block dates beyond your availability window, Turn on Professional Hosting Tools and use the multi-calendar. See @Shelley159's post. You can only do this on a desktop computer, not on your phone:

Simply use the multi-calendar view, right panel and change "unavailable" to "blocked":

Oooh, thanks!
Hi @Gil2587,
Have you managed to update your availability in the end, following Joan's step-by-step and Shelley's linked advice?
Let us know if it's all resolved or if you need any more help please! 🙂
Thanks,
Emilie

Hi, yes, thanks! It looks like that would work and it allows me to set this up to 2 years ahead but that's pretty much inline with the "9999 pounds/night" and quite honestly, if someone is willing to pay 70000 pounds for a week I'll find somewhere to stay during that time 🙂
That's a good point, @Gil2587 😂
I'm glad it worked and you've been able to make those changes, thank you for coming back to let us know and a big thank you again to @Joan2709 for the help!
