How to change the default language on a listing

Hi everyone,

Most of my listings are set to French as the default language. I would like to have them changed to English. Is there a way to do this?

I hired someone to set up my listings when I first joined. I am not fluent in French, but I appreciate that Airbnb automatically translates listings and messages with guests. I want my listings to appear in English by default.

Thanks,

Tom

The default language is determined when the listing is created (from the language set in the account & from the local Airbnb website being used).

It is possible to add languages to prevent automatic translation of certain (but not all) info when listing is viewed in that specific regions OR when the viewer clicks the "change language" option at the bottom of the listing to choose a preferred language.

Due to my knowledge the default language can not be changed, other then to re-create the listing.

Also the help-files did not mention any solution and i could not locate any feature in the editor to do so.

(But maybe i am overlooking something....)

Thank you for your response @Emiel1. Sometimes I don't receive the answers I hope for, but at least I get to interact with some helpful people from around the world.

I cannot update my listing without including text in the French box, which is unfortunate. All my listing descriptions are in English. I don't know if it is best to copy my English text into the French box or add a "." in the French section. It seems disingenuous to be expected to include a French language when I only list in English. Whenever I view my listings, it says some of the text was automatically translated. My business is not advertised as being bilingual. While some employees may be proficient in French, I don't want to create the false image that my business operates in both languages.

I have considered having Google Translate my text into French, but I don't know if that will be beneficial for guests. It could be disappointing for French speakers not to be able to communicate face-to-face with my staff or me.

Have any Canadians experienced the same thing?
