I'm having trouble finding where i can set a security deposit amount on the listing.
Could someone please advise as to how to add a securiy deposit to my listing? I have searched for assistance and the steps I've found do not match the Airbnb dashboard offered to me.

Hi @Martha1138
Airbnb does not allow you to charge a security deposit unless you are using an API connected software channel manager. You would have to rely on Aircover to process any damage to your property (hopefully you have also obtained your own insurance specific to short term rentals).
Security Deposits
https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/140
"Hosts aren’t allowed to charge guests a security deposit through our Resolution Center or outside the Airbnb platform. Instead, we inform guests at the time of booking that their payment method may be charged if they cause damage during a stay.
There is one exception: Hosts who manage their listings with API-connected software can set a security deposit using our offline fees feature. If a Host has done this, the deposit requirements will be clearly communicated during the booking process."

Hi @Martha1138 Airbnb handles security deposits through its platform. They do not allow hosts to handle security deposits directly with guests. This is to ensure a fair and standardized process. If there're any damages or you need to ask for additional payment from your guest, Airbnb's resolution center. Ensure any additional payment/fee is disclosed on your listing description. For any damages, secure documentation as this is very important when filing for an Aircover. Hope this helps!

Sorry this is not correct you haven't been able to accept a deposit through Airbnb for years unless you use a channel manager @Alicia753

@Helen3 Sorry, I think you're misunderstanding my response, I don't see that I mentioned accepting a deposit. What I am informing @Martha1138 is Airbnb does not allow Hosts to handle security deposits, why? Because there's an Airbnb Resolution Center.
Oh, and I know API-connected hosts can set a security deposit using the offline fees option, that's per Airbnb's article. Checking @Martha1138's listing, I know her listing is New. 🙂
