Hi to fellow Canberra hosts
My name is Amanda and I am a Canberra host.
Given the current Covid lockdown in Canberra I would like to address the situation of government financial support for hosts.
As you would be aware the short term accommodation sector has been shut down, in terms of accepting new bookings. We have also been 'lumped in' with hotels/motels, who are receiving government financial assistance.
The fact that many Airbnb hosts are not a registered business with an ABN currently restricts us from receiving a Covid disaster payment.
Just seeing how others feel about this and if anyone has addressed this within the government.
Today I wrote to the Chief Minister, Andrew Barr, and I await a response. I have also written to Access Canberra Business Team, however I seem to go around in circles with them.
