My cohost is being extortet

My cohost is being extortet

We previously collaborated with a cohost who managed over 40 properties and employed four virtual assistants whom he personally vetted and trained. Unfortunately, his Airbnb account was suspended without explanation three weeks ago and permanently removed last week. Shortly thereafter, he received a WhatsApp message from an individual claiming to work for a third-party customer service provider contracted by Airbnb. The individual demanded $1,500 to reinstate the account. This incident is both shocking and deeply concerning, reflecting a troubling decline in the integrity of some customer support channels. Despite multiple reports, no action has been taken to address this issue. Our accounts were suspended shortly after theirs, I guess it is a same person who is trying to extort us.Screen Shot 2024-12-27 at 10.26.44 PM.png

I think you have misunderstood the situation. @Medallion0

1. your cohost has been suspended - this could be for legitimate reason such as having listings which fall below 4.6 ratings or because of say guest safety complaints

2. your cohost was then contacted by a scammer offering to lift their suspension - which according to the text exchange you shared your cohost would have considered but the price was too high 😢

3. I can't see your listings as they've been suspended - but looking at the ratings and reviews -  three of your listings are at 4.6 and lower -  which is likely why you've been suspended - with guest complaints about lack of cleanliness and poor quality listings

normally issues with poor ratings would have been flagged with you previously before Airbnb suspended your listings

did you raise these issues with your cohost to understand why some of your listings are attracting such low reviews ?

I think you are focussing on the wrong thing. Your former cohost has been suspended and then contacted by a scammer falsely offering to be able get rid of the suspension for a fee.

you have also been suspended and need to focus on whether you can convince Airbnb you can address issues that have led to poor ratings for two of your listings.?

Hi Helen,

I wanted to share that his rating was 4.8, and the primary reason I invited him to cohost was because he had been a Superhost for nearly three years. Of course, no one would be expected to pay for this situation. The real concern here is how the scammer obtained the phone and knew that this individual was suspended—information that should be confidential and accessible only to Airbnb.
