Outdoor sauna

Hi all, I'm considering putting a sauna in the garden of my Airbnb. What have other hosts' experiences been? Are there any regulations to follow? Is it necessary to get guests to sign a disclaimer before use?? I'm based in Ireland. Thank you!! Kathryn

Appealing yes! My feelings are strong that a conference with your insurance people and a lawyer could be important to answer these questions and to craft protection for you and your property.

Thanks for asking - we do not have a sauna, nor a hot tub. They both have health and safety issues, which we don't need to add to the normal risks here.

Have you ever heard from other hosts about problems they encountered?

We do not know hosts with these items however we have had medical opinions on the health and safety issues, and so we do not use them ourselves out of prudence and caution. We are protective of our guests, and it would be tragic if anything ever happened that could have been prevented.

Barrel sauna's are very popular. Unfortunately, Airbnb doesn't currently have a search filter for "Sauna".  If you add a sauna, you would need to add the word "Sauna" to your title and highlight it as a top amenity by mentioning it in your description and put a photo of it in the first 5 photos. 

Not sure about the liability aspects. I would do an internet search on that and as @Kitty-and-Creek0 discuss that with your STR insurance company.
