Hi All,
@Stephanie @Catherine-Powell @Emilie @Luke601
I have raised this issue a few times since last May when it first impacted me. I'm opening a new thread as the old ones I think just get buried after some months.
The issue is that I'd like my Superhost status to be displayed on my listings when search results are returned. Mainly this status is obscured by the "rare find" moniker. I can find no detail on what that means on airbnb website. Customer services do not know either.
In the past some of the admin guys have passed the query upstream to AirBnb but I think haven't heard anything back yet. Would you mind using whatever channel you have to chase them on this. After a year it's a bit annoying to have heard nothing.
Many thanks
Kevin
@Richard531 I thought it would be interested for you two to exchange opinions regarding "rare find"!
Hey @Sofia959
It's funny as Richard wants the Rare Find moniker and I want to lose it.
You can never please everyone! 🙂
Best wishes,
Kevin
@Kevin129 Indeed I think you have hit the nail on the head. It would be impossible for Airbnb to please everyone so they make decisions and hope that the majority are happy.
@Sofia959 @Kevin129 I can say with 99% certainty that Rare Find is the most coveted position you want to be in. At least as it relates to the markets we participate. If you have made Rare Find (however you managed to get it done), you should feel very good about it.
I realize that there are some anomalies and sometimes it doesn't make sense that some listings get the moniker. But if you have it on your listing, this is a very good thing.
And thanks for getting me in here, @Sofia959 !
I've solved my primary issue, the problem for me was that "Superhost" relates to the actual host account, and not the property. At some stage I had changed the Primary Host of my property to another account (a joint account shared with my wife) and therefore Superhost would never show on my property anymore in search results 😞
I wish the Superhost badge would show if a Superhost was simply a host and not the "primary host". I've now had to completely change my Superhost account to a join account including changing the email and other details.
I love the rare find tag and wish it would show "both" Superhost and Rare Find on my listing. Rare find is quite self explanatory, if you click into a listing with the Rare Find tag you'll often find the definition.
While on the subject of rare find and for the sake of humor only, this is a post I made long ago on what 'rare find' may mean when it was introduced. We were all coming up with the most interesting of guesses.
"May I suggest yet another interesting theory - Rare Find may mean that despite the fact Airbnb's algorithm has done everything in its power to bury the listing, the reader somehow found it by some miracle. The algorithm is congratulating the reader for having done so.
Any other irrelevant dots you folks need me to connect for yas? (rolls eyes)"
I've made this point before on older threads as have many others but just for clarity. The "rare find" tag seems to imply that a listing is very popular and frequently booked and many hosts I think just assume that this is true. However it's very common to see the tag on properties that have no reviews e.g.
This listing has no reviews and its calendar is wide open for the next couple of months. Of course it's possible that it has had one guest who hasn't left yet so not left a review but does having one guest imply it's a "rare find". I feel that without any clear logic the tag is of little value and I would prefer to have my superhost displayed as that at least has a clear (if limited) meaning.
