Rent a place to host

Do any hosts rent places to furnish and put on Airbnb? For example, a host rents a house for $2000/month, furnishes it, hosts it on Airbnb, and receives $3000/month from Airbnb, thereby making a $1000/month profit.

Yes it’s called arbitrage @Ken2092 

Very risky in the current climate and hard to find landlords willing to let you sublet for STR.

Ken you forgot the expenses you would have:  sheets, towels, laundry, utility bills, toilet paper, soap, taxes, and STR licence (if needed in your area) etc... + the time needed for cleaning, checking-in your guests, communication... etc.
