Romanian Airbnb Requiring ID?

Hi - I have booked an AirBnb in Bucharest, Romania- with the below listed as part of the check-in instructions. Is this normal to send a photo ID, with a drivers license not acceptable, it would need to be a passport photo?

To fully comply with Romanian regulations, we must ask all of our guests to complete the accommodation form. It is mandatory to send us a photo with your ID (even if you will not actually be staying) and a photo with the ID of all the people who will enter the apartment. The check-in procedure is possible only based on this documentation. Please note: - All the IDs sent must be valid; - Romanian legislation does not consider a driving license as an ID;

Hello @Justine391

It's always been the law to provide ID when booking into a Hotel or motel or Official Guest house so they authorities can find people if need be.

Alas you have the lawful right to do so in person directly to Police in those places to.

AI has really thrown our rights around in respect of the collection of ID's and what constitutes 'ID'.

Some places who are geographically challenged with AI/ Telecommunications are happy with good old fashioned hand written information and face to face human interactions.

Look up Bucharest, Romania, Regulations and see what your Options are and exercise your rights accordingly including in respect of Data Erasure and Protection regulations if you are sending it via the internet.

Have a great holiday.

@Justine391 If this was disclosed in the listing then I guess you agreed to it when booking. If it was a later request then you still have to comply with the lawsuit you may not have to send details by e-mail.
