Hello,
Is anyone else having issues with the Schlage App and connection with the Airbnb app? We have had numerous issues with Airbnb app not connecting to our Schlage smart lock.
We have the Schlage Encode and we are not loving the technic issues. What other smart lock is recommended?
Thanks,
Bernice
Not heard alot of complaints about the Schlage Encode and the integration with Airbnb.
I don't suggest the Hosts I work with use the Airbnb Integration and create their own codes instead. Multiple Hosts use the Schlage Encode with no issues. I also have one on my own home and love it.
The Yale/August locks also integrate with Airbnb, but again, I wouldn't integrate them and just setup codes yourself until you have figured out what the issue is with the Airbnb integration with the Schlage as you might just have the same issue with the Yale locks.
What issues are you having with the connection/integration with Airnb?
Yale Assure
Yale Assure 2
Hi Bernice, we have the Schlage Encode Smart Lock Lever and have been having nothing but issues with it and we've only had it since November. The lock kept freezing from moisture between our door and the storm door (we live in Manitoba and it gets very cold) so we had to remove the storm door. That issue stopped since we removed the door. But it keeps dropping from the WiFi or the keypad becomes unresponsive. They keep telling us to complete a factory reset which doesn't ever solve anything. Sometimes it just randomly starts working again. We've already had it replaced once and now we are getting it replaced again. I'm leaning towards wanting my money back and trying a different brand.
Yes...this is a known problem with the Schlage. The case allows moisture inside which results in problems.
Hosts that live in coastal areas or very cold environents should probably stick to the Yale Assure 2. I have several clients who have them and do not have any issues. Yale is also a lock that can be integrated with Airbnb.
Thank you @Barbara3849 and Joan for sharing your experiences with this piece of kit!
@Bernice71 I know it has been a few months, however I was wondering how you were getting on with your smart lock now? Are you still having some issues?

Hello @Emilie
I haven't had issues for a few months. I found out the 2.5ghz on the Schlage keeps dropping the Wifi on my Cox internet 5.0ghz modem.
Our condo is in AZ and the Schlage smart lock does not like it when the weather is above 90 degrees. The lock is black which probably doesn't help.
Some modems allow you to split the signal/network into to a 2.4g and 5g - some don't. Most stationary devices like smart locks, printers, robot vacuums, automatic pet feeders, WiFi security cameras etc. require the 2.4g signal.
Since any smart lock you have will require the 2.4g signal, I would reach out to your internet provider and ask how you can split the signal into a 2.4g & 5g broadcast. Providers will tell you the device chooses which signal is best in a combined signal modem, but as you discovered, that is not stable enough for smart locks and other devices that require a 2.4g signal.
Cox’s Panoramic Wifi app often has a “Split bands” or “Separate SSID” option that lets you assign separate names to:
the 2.4 GHz network (e.g., MyHome_2.4)
the 5 GHz network (e.g., MyHome_5G)
