Security cameras showing rear yards

Hi.

The owner of the property I host would like to place security cameras that will clearly show the private, fenced rear yard. They would also like them at the front of the property for general security purposes. My main concern is with the ones showing a private yard where guests

may be sun baking, children may be playing etc. What are the thoughts on this as I already know my obligations re disclosing cameras anyway.

Hello @Bruce678, welcome to the Airbnb community.

This is definitely a topic that our Hosts discuss frequently in our community. I am sharing a thread here where one of our Hosts shared their advice on how to properly describe the cameras in the listing: https://community.withairbnb.com/t5/Ask-about-your-listing/Calendar-blocked-listing-active/m-p/18533...

I am reaching out to some other Hosts to see if they could share their advice with you:

All the best,

We have security cameras the face all sides of our listings, and we clearly state this in the listing details and house rules.  We also have house rules against covering, disconnecting or moving the cameras.  Hosts can't make guests read, but it's the best to inform them of what they are renting.

In the Things to Note section of our Atlanta listings, we've written, "For the security of our guests and the safety of our home, we have external security cameras located around the perimeter of the house, an apartment alarm and a Ring doorbell at the entrance door."  Our St. Lucia guesthouse listings say, "There are security cameras located on the exterior of the guesthouse, in the reception room, and in the common hallway."
