Hello
I have a guest asking to split her stay. She’s like to stay here for 5 days, then has to leave for the weekend to go to a work function, then would like to stay 6 more days. Can a stay be spilt without incurring feed or having to pay for the full stay?
It will be two bookings.
Or if you do not plan to rent the place for the weekend, then sent her a special offer without charging the weekend days (or just a fee if she want to leave some luggage).
That sounds like a guest I would rather not have.
What she wants is 13 days for the price of 11.
I believe your price is extremely low anyway and this attracts the wrong kind of guests.
There are also a lot of people looking specifically for new hosts to cheat in a variety of ways.
@Brian2036 Why jump to a conclusion like that? The guest doesn't seem to have indicated she wants 13 days for the price of 11.
The host could likely book out the weekend to another guest.
It wouldn’t be worth cleaning twice for the $50 (minus fees and taxes) and I’ll give you odds that the guest is clever enough to know that.
I would gladly pay the host for the whole 13 days and be happy to have a nice room, kitchen access and recreational amenities for half the price of a really crappy hotel.
This guest is most likely either a cheapskate, incredibly inconsiderate, or just plain stupid.
I’ll bet you $10 that she turns out to be a huge pain in the hump.
Prove me wrong and I’ll send it to you through the resolution center 😉
Well, I think it's a reasonable thing for a guest to ask. She doesn't need the accommodation over the weekend, so she asked for 5 days and then 6 days. Not every guest is some kind of scammer or dummy, in fact the majority are not.
How the host wants to handle it is up to her. Personally, I would be happy to accommodate that and would just tell her to leave her bags if she wanted, give her some clean linens and towels for the second week, but not clean it again.
But then, I don't host in a typical way and didn't start hosting solely to make as much money off it as possible.
@Brian2036 @Heidi663 @Sarah977 We had a guest last year who booked for four weeknights. On the Thursday before he left he asked if he could leave his stuff in the apartment as he would be returning Monday night for the continuation of his court case. As it was unlikely that we would get a last minute weekend booking and as it saved us the hassle of cleaning we readily agreed.
I think context is everything in these requests. Interestingly the jury was unable to reach a verdict in his case.
