Why does the Inbox crash on the mobile app and the messages feature on the desktop site?

Everything has been working fine with my Airbnb apps. Suddenly out of nowhere this morning every time I click on Inbox on the phone app the app crashes. And on the desktop website  I get a message when clicking Messages of: "Sorry an error has occurred. Try again." Everything else seems to work fine. I rebooted my computer and phone a couple of times and uninstalled and reinstalled the Android app. Nothing helped. If someone on Airbnb, Support or a host sends me a message which also comes through email, I can access the message with no problem. But I can't access the Inbox page, and it still crashes.

 

I called Airbnb and I am waiting for them to get back to me as they try to figure out what the problem is. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Same here, but I’m on IOS and it hangs.

Hi @David11045 As you mentioned reaching out to Airbnb Support about it, have you heard back from them or managed to get this resolved?

@Robin1338 ! Have you reached out to the Support team since you noticed this issue? 

It would be worth trying out these basic troubleshooting steps in case it helps : 

  1. Log out from your browsers.
  2. Close all browser windows/tabs on those devices/browsers.
  3. Open a new window on each affected browser.
  4. Clear cache, cookies, and browser history on browser.
  5. Login with your Email that is associated with your account.

Do keep us posted if the issue persists and share some screenshots that may help us with reporting this to the team!

None of these suggestions turned out necessary. The bug was in the Airbnb system, and it's all apparently been fixed on their end. Both for the mobile app and the browser website page for Messages.

My Airbnb app is doing this now (iPhone 15). I’ve tried rebooting phone with no luck. It works fine on my husband’s iPhone 11. Any ideas?

- Be sure you are running the most current software on iPhone

- Log off your Airbnb accounts completely on every device

- Delete the Airbnb app on your phone

- Reinstall the Airbnb App on your phone

- Log back in on the Airbnb App on the iPhone using your email NOT phone number

 

Thats all I can think of right now. Let us know if this helps?
