It’s possible that this is a new listing, which is why there are no reviews yet. Keep in mind that before a new listing can go live, the host must go through Airbnb’s verification process, so that does add some level of trust.
If the host isn’t responding to your messages, I recommend contacting Airbnb Support for assistance before deciding to cancel your booking. They can help reach out to the host on your behalf or advise you on the best next steps.
