I have an extensive guidebook and send the link to every guest. Most use it and about 10% mention it in reviews. I like to keep it clean and up-to-date, but editing it is an exercise in frustration.
On the pro side - you can now change the order of entries in the app. This is a great tool I've been asking for for years.
On the con side - all of these things happened in the time I spent trying to edit the guidebook this afternoon:
"Oops! An unknown error occurred. Retry." (In the app.)
Ice cream lady. (On the web.)
"429 too many requests." Repeatedly. (On the web.)
After moving an entry, hitting "save" doesn't necessarily save the new order. Rather, you have to hit "save" and exit out of the guidebook completely. (In the app.)
Photos of places appear and disappear without rhyme or reason. Rarely does the entire guidebook load fully. (Both web and app.)
Hitting "save" causes the whole thing to freeze. (In the app.)
Right now I'm just looking at the three dots from hell after selecting "edit" (in the app).
Editing a caption and hitting "save" doesn't save the new caption. (In the app.)
Airbnb recommends that hosts create guidebooks, even going so far as to say, "Hosts with guidebooks tend to get more bookings." But they appear to have purchased an off-brand digital format that is prone to error. Come on, tech team, what gives?
@Ann72 Good grief.
The entire platform has been extra glitchy these past few days, due no doubt to the ‘Plus 50 more new updates and improvements’.
🤣🤣
Hi @Ann72, I'm so sorry to hear about this 😞. I've passed this on to the team for further investigation.
That’s so nice @Quincy!
It did get better for a day but it’s very spotty. I clicked on an entry yesterday from the guidebook on my phone and was told it didn’t exist. I went to my computer and successfully clicked through on the web. It’s pretty unstable, which is a shame, because I know my guests really rely on it.
Hi I'm pretty new to all this but a guidebook seems like a great idea. I have created one and want to print it to leave copies in the apartment. Why won't it print the front page?!
I called Airbnb customer support over three months ago to let them know that my guests are not seeing my entire guidebook. They took all the information and said that someone in the IT department will be working on it. I called again a few weeks later and I got the same answer. Then I called again a few weeks later and I also got the same answer. It is so frustrating because I have a bunch of information on my guidebook that I would like my guests to have access to and enjoy.
As time goes on it is important to add or change information, but I cannot for the life of me see how to edit text in the guidebook. Am I missing something here?
@Christopher1456 Just seeing this, so you may have figured it out by now, but in case you haven't:
Go to "Guidebooks" from "Menu"
Choose the "gear" icon and choose "Edit"
Under each entry you'll see "Edit" again:
Once you click through that, you'll be able to edit the text and save the new version.
