where to direct guests to see check-in instructions and photos explaining how to find our listing?

Hi there!!!!

In the app, we included photos and step-by-step instructions to help guests find our listing as part of the "check-in instructions," but guests can't seem to find it.

So....

1) What are the exact instructions we can share with guests to find those check-in instructions and photos in the app? (i.e. clip "TRIPS"...then click x,y, z....etc.)

2) I know Airbnb allows hosts to share links to certain info, but a link to check-in instructions/pics doesn't seem to be an option.  Is there a way to share a link that takes guests to those directions and photos we have included?

I came across a youtube link that @Joan2709 posted last year, which described how to create your own makeshift link to the check-in instructions and photos by using this template link, and then replacing the "XXX" with your own unique airbnb listing number, which is the long number found in your listing URL, but I tried that and it didn't seem to work.

Here is that initial YOUTUBE video.  Pertinent section is 1:00 - 4:00 into video:

Thanks soooooo much for your help.

Buongiorno @Kelly2575 ,

I think with the new Summer Release it should be easier for guests to find check-in instructions.

Anyway, I too would like to find a way to provide guests via chat with a link to check-in instructions, but I haven't found it yet, alas

@Kelly2575  I have created docs in pdf such as house rules etc and then turned them into a link using https://tiiny.host/use-case/pdf-link/     Then I set it up as an automated message in Airbnb to go out day of check-in. I would imagine you can do the same with instructions and pics.

Hope this helps!

Hi Kelly!

Sad...Airbnb made a software change and the check-in guide link will no longer work..sigh.

We changed our check-in message and provided the Airbnb Help Article and 3steps for guests to find their check-in instructions:

⫸ How to Check-In

https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/100

  1. Go to your Trips Tab in the Airbnb App
  2. Tap photo of Listing
  3. Scroll down to Checking In/How to Get Inside

This is what it looks like to the Guest:

Just found out you CAN add photos to Scheduled Msgs now!!!

...But only in the App 😊

Thanks to @Patricia2526 , just found out you CAN add photos to a scheduled message, but only in the App, not on a computer. No idea how long that capability has been there, but I just tested in in the App and it works! Thanks again @Patricia2526👏

I usually only use a desktop computer and never knew Airbnb had added this feature? Who knows when, as we weren't notified. Here is what it looks like in the App. Go to

Scheduled Msgs

Click the msg you want to edit

Tap the (+) sign

Upload the photo

Tap Next/Save

This feature is not yet functioning on the desktop - it's greyed-out

@Joan2709 it works also on PC, you have to place the cursor at the point in the message where you want to insert the photo

@Andrea6232

Yes...I did finally figure that out by accident yesterday 🙄

Not very intuitive is it? Don't you think you should be able to just click the "Add Details" button like in the App? I posted several other places about my "accidental" discovery yesterday, but must have missed this one 😊

Hi @Kelly2575,

Great questions — and you’re not alone! Many hosts have noticed that guests often miss the check-in instructions, especially with recent app updates and the broken guide link format.

Here’s what I’ve found works best:

1. How Guests Can Find Check-In Instructions in the App:
You can share these step-by-step instructions with your guests in your scheduled message or pre-arrival message:

📲How to View Check-In Instructions on the Airbnb App:

Open the Airbnb app

Tap “Trips” at the bottom

Tap the photo of your upcoming reservation

Scroll down and tap “Check-in instructions” or “How to get inside”

This is the official Airbnb Help article you can link to in your message:
🔗How to Check In – Airbnb Help Center

2. Can You Send a Direct Link to the Check-In Instructions?
Sadly, no — Airbnb disabled that function, and the https://www.airbnb.com/reservation/check-in-guide/XXX format no longer works. So, the best approach is to:

Include the steps above in your automated message

Add check-in photos directly to your scheduled message via the app (tap "+" when editing)

Optionally, create a PDF guide and upload it as a public link using a tool like https://tiiny.host as suggested by @Karen114 — then share that link in your pre-check-in message

💡Bonus Tip:
If you're using a desktop, @Andrea6232 pointed out you can insert photos in messages now — just place your cursor in the message field and insert the image. This makes it easier to visually walk guests through the check-in process.

Thanks again for asking a question that many of us have been working around. Clear check-in info = happy guests!
