Hosts Livelihood VS Guests Vacation! COVID 19 IMPACT ON HOSTS

I'm sure ALL hosts are feeling the impact of the recent cancellations due to the corona virus. I was extremely shocked to see Airbnb has taken the liberty to change cancelation policies and giving every guest a full refund! I've had 4 cancelations from guests coming from other U.S. states that were refunded fully today alone!! That's a bunch of BS!! Airbnb doesn't give a **bleep** about it's hosts who have rents and bills to pay!! They got backlash from guests and decided to **bleep** the hosts so they look better in the public eye!! Hey Airbnb you wouldn't exist without us!!!! How is it fair that we have to carry this heavy financial burden that you decided to suddenly throw on us?! As hosts we need to come together and hold Airbnb responsible for this!! They made a detrimental change to our cancelation policy that has the ability to bankrupt us, kill our credit and leave us in an insane amount of debt!!! All this without any sort of warning and to benefit their own company!! A company that would NOT EXIST WITHOUT US!!!! I say let's unlist everything and move it over to another platform!! Any responses, feedback and ideas is greatly appreciated. We as hosts have to come together to get through this mess and hold Airbnb responsible!!! Class action lawsuit is a good starting point.

They refunded about $7000 to my guests. I have no foreseeable income. This is devastating!

Will stop listing with Airbnb ! So disappointed !

OK. everyone interested should read https://www.classaction.org/learn/how-to-start  then we should appoint or decide who is going to look for the lawyer and create a forum where only the hosts who want to start the class action should join. It would be more credible and strong to the judge  if we do it together. Is there any Lawyer in our community?

I'm in - you can count on me (for real, not Airbnb like)

Same!

@Sheila22 opened a facebook page. Lets get there whoever wants to take action not just complain of their financial burden. https://www.facebook.com/groups/861430217655400/

I do not know well how to use this but i will sure find out and  hopefully when i arrive many of you will be there looking for a way to fix this problem.

And a word for those who think that we are not caring for the world health. There has been many other extenuating situations but it is not the situation what bothers  its the way Airbnb responded to us. Again as i said in another post and asked directly to Airbnb why not producing vouchers that lasts for 2 years. All the venues that were cancelled in Miami did that one example is the Ultra that do not refund the money but gave a voucher for the next 2 years and this event its only 2 days in a year. Why not issuing a voucher for 1 or 2 years with us? . I am feeling that those that cancel in Miami took the opportunity to  cancell the higher prices and find another place for less money since most of Airbnb hosts were suggested to a lower price.. Something else to think about. After seeing Miami Beach Full Of Spring break people Yesterday not the usual folks.

I did start a page and keeping it private for Hosts only (and Hosts who want to unite over this issue specifically).  I don't have a lawyer and am not a lawyer, but just trying to create a private forum to try to come up with forward thinking actions.  It's a private FB page called "Airbnb Hosts United".  You can post this message and link there as well.

@Sheila22 I requested to join. Haven't checked to see if you accepted or not. I think we should all do our part and contact other hosts to join in.  Also anyone else notice host referrals get $540 instead of the original $175??

I believe the more Host you refer the bigger the payout (Carrot).

This way Airbnb keeps you working for them.

Please sign this petition.  http://chng.it/PQJrCTvN

Unlike other petitions, this one helps both the hosts and guests and offer a concrete solution.  Please sign and ask others to do the same!

Nothing Airbnb propose goes in that article goes far enough.  There is no doubt in my mind that we need to find out whether their actions are legal.  I would argue that they have created further panic.  I have guests due to arrive in May who are already saying they are worried sick and want to cancel.

What I have always said is that Airbnb don't adhere to their own extenuating circumstances policy.  They just make it up as they go along.  I don't have a problem with them canceling guests as long as Airbnb pay me.  If they were playing with their own money they may think twice about their sweeping actions.

I would like to find a lawyer who can advise us if what they are doing is illegal then our only option is a class action.  This is business.  We all have bills to pay and I doubt anyone is about to offer us all a bailout plan.

Please send me the link where this is being discussed.
