Layed off

I'm a co host of an airbnb. If I get laid off due to covid 19 can I still get employment insurance?

Contact your local government. In the US, in some states, unemployment claims are being expanded to almost everyone including those who were LONG TERM gig or self-employed. Unfortunately it varies state by state so contact your region/province agencies.

@Jay1368Were you a T4d employee? If so, and if you've gotten an ROE, then yes, EI is your route, I think.

If not, the route you should try (from what I understand) is applying for CERB. Just received the following from my local MP:

Workers: Did you earn a minimum of $5,000 last year? Lost your income due to COVID-19, but not eligible for Employment Insurance? We got you covered. You qualify for the newly introduced Canada Employment Response Benefit. That means you're eligible for $2,000/month and will get $1,000 every 2 weeks while you can't earn an income for up to 4 months.
