1099K's from airbnb should not include adjustments and resolutions

1099's represent income.  How can amounts that I never received be included?  Airbnb says the IRS "requires" them to report adustments and resolutions as income, but I don't buy it.  If it never hit my bank account,  it isn't income.  I know I can deduct it as a business expense, but that means I only recoup a percentage.  I want my 1099K from airbnb to show the amount I actually received.  This extra $5,000-$10,000 pushes people into higher tax brackets

@Kathy899 any adjustments/resolutions are surely expensable.

Deductions should be for expenses like cleaning and property taxes.  They should be applied to income received.  Adjustments aren't income, because we never received them.  it's like being taxed on a Christmas bonus that you never received.
