I had a 5 day reservation worth over $500 and AirBnB cancels it the night before with just an email to me. He had booked more than a month ago and had 6 verifications and 6 reviews. AirBnB's excuse is that he possibly had some damage issues with another host. I don't understand how AirBNB can do this with no penalty to themselves. If the guests cancels the night before he pays anyway. If I cancel the night before I pay a penalty to AirBNB and get a bad review and possibly go on probation. Yet Airbnb can cancel at will. I have no problem with them cancelling due to an issue like that but it should have been reviewed when he booked or at least a week or two prior tot he reservation date.
Maybe this “issue” happened a few days before.
@Richard146 Presumably you checked the guests previous reviews when they booked and there was nothing that gave you cause for concern so sounds like this happened recent.
glad Airbnb picked this up for you and save you what could have been a negative hosting experience @Richard146
