AirBnB help for people made homeless by NSW Fires catastrophe

In New South Wales, Australia, massive bushfires are continuing to ravage the landscape. So far over 1,200 houses have been burned to the ground. Many more have been damaged or are still in great danger and are now uninhabitable. This has resulted in thousands of families being thrust into homelessness. Many have escaped with little more than the clothes on their backs. There are babies, toddlers, children, parents, singles and couples young and old who are now homeless and likely still in shock. The situation is only comparable to a war zone, with thousands of refugees fleeing from the risk of a horrible death by fire. 

I beg AirBnB hosts in New South Wales to open up their homes for temporary accommodation for these fire refugees. It would be great if this accommodation could be offered for free, or otherwise at a greatly reduced cost. This would be a simple way of showing compassion to communities in crisis and helping those now shocked and homeless.

I urge AirBnB administrators - whom I cannot find - to enable this to happen through the AirBnB booking platform, and to make this offer of accommodation known to the people of NSW through media outlets and through contacting the NSW Government.

Hello,

i have opened up my house in Wollongong for free emergency accomodation for any family or emergency workers to utilise. However I have a question. 

I have blocked dates for the month of January so I don’t receive requests (paying guests) but should I open up my calendar for the people needing this emergency accomodation.

One would reasonably expect that ABB have all parts of Australia covered as the fires to the best of my knowledge are widespread across Australia @Laura_C would you be able to check & confirm if there is OPen Home accommodation in other locations available?

From information online there will need to be accomomodation required for longer term so perhaps those of you who may be able to assist how about contacting ABB to extend the dates?
