Airbnb Experience Host - Confused about Taxes

Hello,

I was an Airbnb Experience host in 2019 and made a bit under $1k which means I don't qualify for a 1099 form. Does anyone have experience with how they did their taxes with their Airbnb Income? I usually file my taxes on my own but Airbnb doesn't give enough information for Airbnb Experience Hosts who make under $20k a year. Any info may help!

@Kaira1

may be, cause the law of taxation in different country might be very different.. is a bit hard to be an expert globally through more than 200 different countries in details.. I would go to a local tax office and ask them for more accurate answer.. cause airbnb does not provide a 0.5% tax selection..

@Airbnb

it might be a good idea to have a customise selection for your host.. it might provide a information through people's experience and choice..

but than again if any changes are made than it will be hard for Airbnb to notice it than the residents of the country any way..

eg: the law of container in Indonesia are considered as a permanent building instead of a non permanent building, that created a very different type of taxation charge on the building.. yet there are many different tax in my country, income tax, tourism tax, service tax, or even a ground/ earth tax..

the local government office is the best choice you can made to learn on these details.. Airbnb might give you a wrong info or out of date info.. thus is better for them to keep quiet..

different country have different tax regulation,.. I don't think Airbnb is qualify to notice the changes and the different kind of tax in detail for every country, even though is less than 280 countries.. still os a lot of countries..

if bette to go to the local government tax office..

cause in my country as Indonesia has different tax system than foreigner..

I only need to pay 0.5% of my income, by registering my tax number under different state, in BAli than my original state of Jakarta.. i have the power to pay this much only if I only rent less than 10 doors of room . (1 villa of 3bdr is considered 3 rooms), or an revenue of less than 300,000 USD roughly, or provide payable extra services, or service charge or even paid breakfast..

is different in every state in Indonesia.. and there are details in America also..

thus is very hard to be an expert for a global different taxation regulation, and updates . and since is sensitive. is better to keep it quite than to give a wrong info..

there are also local tradition tax, earth tax, building tax.. and taxi (heheh just kidding)

good luck..

or maybe a way to reduce or waiver through a CSR (corporate Social Responsibility)

or hire a tax consultant.. Airbnb provide a general tax helping system that is not in details.. cause they are not qualified to become an expert for every different country..
